What a Spring Break! The brothers got up to just about everything, from branding to the beaches. Two brothers, Phillip Prewett and Zach Herrmann made their way to Kansas City to attend the AGR recruitment school. Others brothers had branding and calving happening at their home operations. It was a busy weekend here at the Alpha Delta. With a long Presidents’ Day weekend the brothers got out and about and did a lot! Many of our brothers went south to Denver to attend the AGR leadership conference. Some other brothers competed in the annual Ducks On Ice, ice fishing fundraiser at Canyon Ferry reservoir and faired pretty well! And while some went south the others took a trip north and visited Calgary Alberta and had some fun in Canada!

At our previous meeting the winner of our yearly BrotherHood scholarship was announced as Cole Wiles. Cole recently retired in his role as houseman and facilitated new floors and paint for our dining room and kitchen, assisted in the installation of our new backyard fire pit, and completed many new other house jobs without being told to. Cole constantly strives to become a better man and is always chasing that next project or leadership position. This week Alpha Gamma Rho presented five different organizations with a $3,000 donation. The money donated were the profits from our annual Testy Fest Concert that was held at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse back in September. The organizations receiving the donations were Hero’s and Horses, Montana 4-H, Montana FFA, Eagle Mount, and Gallatin Valley YMCA. Supporting our local community is one of the core values of being an AGR and these organizations are well deserving of these donations. Our new executive team attended Alpha Gamma Rho’s Top Leaders Institute this weekend in Salt Lake. Alongside our brothers from other chapters, we learned how to improve our chapters to a new degree of success. This semester Alpha Gamma Rho installed a new minor exec position- Community Service Chair. Since the installment of the new position, Alpha Gamma Rho has found new service opportunities that we would have never participated in before. Some of these opportunities included Bobcat Stadium Cleanups, Bobcat Closet, Prospera Auction, Bozeman Health Foundation, Montana FFA, Can the Griz, and much more. This new role has had massive success amongst our chapter and we thank all the organizations for the countless opportunities to help the community. Over the weekend Alpha Gamma Rho inducted its inaugural class into the Alpha Delta Hall of Fame. The class consisted of three alumni who have lived the AGR motto throughout their professional careers. Dr. LeRoy Luft became a member of the Alpha Delta Chapter in 1956 and served in numerous rolls around campus and within the AGR house. After college he was commissioned into the U.S. Army and later joined the Montana National Guard. He served on the National AGR Educational Foundation Board and was named one of the top 100 AGR’s of the century by National AGR. He worked for multiple university extension services and received his PhD from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Luft was unfortunately unable to attend last weekend but we look forward to seeing him soon to present him with his plaque. Bill Jimmerson was a graduate of MSU and has helped develop the agricultural youth of Montana throughout his career. He served as an FFA teacher and advisor at Conrad High School for 32 years and served as the Montana State FFA advisor for 8 years. Bill was honored by the White House in 2012 as a “Champion of Change” for his work in developing a national program for Native American FFA. Bill’s family was given his plaque posthumously last weekend. Bill passed away unexpectedly in 2022 at the age of 74. His legacy for helping the youth of Montana will live on in our hearts. Ron Ramsfield is very well known around the active chapter. He has served as our house operations manager for 25 years and is one of the most selfless and caring people we know. Ron is always willing to lend a helping hand when something goes wrong. No matter the problem or the time, Ron will be at the house in a heartbeat to help fix a window, snake the plumbing, or literally anything that can go wrong in a fraternity house. His smile is contagious and we always love hearing his stories from his time as an active. Everyone in the house loves Ron and we can’t thank him enough for his service to this chapter over the past 25 years. He graduated from MSU 1973 and has worked for the universities extension service for years. Ron was able to attend the banquet and was presented with his plaque.

AGR’s in Club Sports and Athletics Part of being an AGR is being involved elsewhere on campus outside of the house. We wanted to recognize our brothers who have joined club sports and athletic teams as a way to get involved on campus. James Stonebarger is a member of the MSU Rodeo team and is a bull rider. James had no prior rodeo experience before coming to MSU. His rodeo career went from sweeping out stables to being the number one bull rider for the team. Landon Porteous is a member of the MSU Hockey Team and plays goalie. His hockey career started back in Canada where he grew up and has now become a valued player for the club. Avery Kenny is a member of the MSU Alpine Ski Club. Avery is from Michigan and grew up ski racing and has since become the President of the Ski Club. Travis Lemon is a member if the MSU Baseball team and plays 3rd base. Last Thursday, the Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho had the honor and privilege of welcoming the Montana State University President, Waded Cruzado to the AGR house. Along with President Cruzado, AGR welcomed Vice President and Dean of the College of Ag, Sreekala Bajwa, Dean of Students Matt Caires, Assistant Dean of Students Amber King, a representative from MSU PD, and esteemed Alpha Delta alumni. The purpose of the evening was to welcome campus leaders and thank them for all their hard work to help Alpha Delta succeed. The night began with house tours, followed by a dinner catered by our advisor's mother, Mari Shore, and was capped off with speeches from MSU leadership. What an honor it was to host these incredible people, and we are more than pleased to hear all the positive feedback from attendees! The continuous support from campus leaders enables us to keep improving our chapter and push the limits of what a fraternity is capable of. It was another successful semester here at Alpha Gamma Rho. Our men made great strides and we will continue to make better men here at MSU come this fall. Today AGR hosted MSU PD at the house for a BBQ and in return, got to try out MSU PD’s new Milo Shooting Simulator. This simulator is used by officers to help train for specific scenarios that might occur out in the field including situational awareness, timing, and accuracy. The simulator puts you in different scenarios where you have to react appropriately. The simulator can use real pictures and video from around campus so officers can train in a familiar setting. It was another amazing night for the men of Alpha Gamma Rho at the FSL awards ceremony. We were able to come home with three prestigious awards. Brother Lane Lerum won fraternity member of the year. Our advisor Bailey McCracken won advisor of the year. And our chapter won the philanthropy award after raising nearly $25,000 for philanthropy this past year. It was a big week here at Alpha Gamma Rho, First off, we’d like to introduce you to Alpha Delta’s newest Sweetheart, Ella Pace! Ella is a Sophomore studying political science and economics and is from Vancouver Washington. She is an active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and is a member of the Montana State Spirit Squad! We can’t wait to watch Ella help lead our men and we look forward to watching her grow over the next year! Thank you to all the contestants for participating this week! Second of all, on Saturday we hosted our annual Pink Rose formal in Big Timber Montana. Congratulations to our very own Matthew Gozo on winning the Pi Phis Phinest Competition last week! Matt participated in the competition to help raise money for children’s literacy. In the competition he was tasked with making his own children’s book, participating in a spelling bee, and helped raise money for the cause! From doing so, 25% of what he raised was also donated to Alpha Gamma Rho’s philanthropy Heros and Horses!
